The Tmall points you look down on were defrauded of 6.71 million yuan by the black industry for orders of 1.4 billion yuan.
On May 4, according to the Procuratorate Daily, a case involving Tmall points fraud was exposed. The owner of Tmall used the online black industry and fake commodity transactions to finally cheat Tmall's real points, and then cashed out and put them in his pocket. A total of 1.4 billion order brushing numbers were created, more than 700 million Tmall points were obtained, and Tmall scored more than 6.71 million yuan.
Many users are prone to ignore the existence of Tmall points. Whenever a transaction is completed, the Tmall store will give you a Tmall point of varying value.
Points can be accumulated, and in the next consumption, they can be used in a ratio of 100:1. For example, Interface News reporters currently have a total of 3,087 yuan in their account, which can offset 30.87 yuan in cash in the next shopping.

In addition to cashback, points also have functions such as purchasing shopping vouchers and winning points.
There are two rules for Tmall points that are used by scammers: one is that after the transaction is completed, even if a return is refunded, the points do not need to be refunded and can still be left in the consumer account; the second is that for marketing purposes, Alibaba can get 5,000 points (50 yuan) on its birthday, and it is double the points when buying things.
Scammers use these two characteristics specifically to continuously register new users to brush orders, use their own Tmall store to return and refund, and the registered account's birthday is very close to the transaction date.
According to the reporter of Interface News, under normal transaction conditions, the point cashback is mainly borne by the merchant. Tmall has formulated an industry formula, with different cashback ratios in different industries and a certain floating range. For example, the average merchant has at least 0.5% (the minimum rebate ratio of virtual products is 0.1%), which is set to a multiple of 0.5%.

But half of the double points on the birthday are issued by Tmall platform, and the 5,000 points of member gift package are also from Tmall platform. Scammers mainly take advantage of this.
As a victim of this case, Alibaba told Interface News reporters, "This cannot be considered a loophole in Tmall. The authenticity of birthdays needs to be verified by real-names. If the real-name authentication is not passed, it will be restricted. The core issue of this is the black and gray industry of order brushing and offline purchase of ID cards and accounts."
However, the Tmall platform has also noticed the loopholes in the black and gray industry.
According to Interface News reporters, by June 2017, Alibaba's overall membership system may face a new business adjustment, and the cancellation of the points-deducting function is only involved in a small part of it. Specific details have not been disclosed yet.
In April 2017, Tmall officials had issued new regulations in case similar incidents occur again. Not only can the birthday points be collected anymore, according to the announcement, Tmall plans to upgrade its points business as a whole and will turn off the credit-deduction function. The adjustment of the rules will be announced from April 1, 2017 and will officially take effect on June 1, 2017.
There are three main points in the key changes to this rule: First, the Tmall points offset function is closed; second, some rules are adjusted after the points offset function is closed; third, the points acquisition channel has been adjusted.
In the new regulations, there are three ways to realize points rights:
1. Redeem gift vouchers; members can redeem Tmall shopping vouchers by consuming points through product pages, membership centers and other channels;
2. Consume points through the "Member Center" to exchange for value-added goods and rights; however, virtual goods (such as recharge phone bills, Q coins), gold and gold product products, pharmaceutical center Chinese and Western medicines and medical device products do not currently support the use of points to obtain discounts or exchange goods;
3. Other events held by Tmall may require members to consume points as the entry and registration threshold for event access and registration.
Within the Alibaba e-commerce platform system, there are several membership systems similar to Tmall points:
·There is also a virtual currency called "Gold Coins" that consumers have the most contact in daily life. They can complete tasks and redeem products on Taobao;
·"Tmall point coupons" are similar to points. They are marketing tools issued by merchants during marketing. Electronic cards are issued by merchants. Physical cards are divided into four types: 10,000 points, 20,000 points, 50,000 points and 100,000 points (similar to supermarket shopping cards);
·Alipay also has a point consumption service called "Jifenbao", which has cash value and was launched in 2012.
If Tmall points have room to take advantage of loopholes, theoretically speaking, several other points cashback tools may be targeted by the hacker industry.
Other e-commerce platforms have similar points encouragement. JD.com has a division of Jingdou and membership levels, but Jingdou cannot be used as a cash deposit, and can only be used when purchasing. Jingdou can also get discounts during shopping, reviews, and posting activities. Previously, NetEase Huihui Assistant also launched a point cashback event.
