In 1987, Zhang Xiaolong was admitted to the Department of Telecommunications of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (formerly Huazhong University of Science and Technology);
Graduated in 1994 and received a master's degree. In the same year, he went to Guangzhou to work and engaged in software development. Since then, he has developed an excellent domestic email client software - Foxmail.

In January 1997, FoxMail1.0beta (English version) was released and announced on winsite.
On April 18, 2000, Zhang Xiaolong sold Foxmail to Boda Company for 12 million yuan and served as the company's vice president.
On March 16, 2005, Tencent acquired Foxmail software, Zhang Xiaolong joined Tencent Company, serving as the general manager of Guangzhou R&D Department, and was responsible for and led the QQ mailbox team.
In March 2008, after three years of polishing, QQ mailbox became the most used email product in China.

In October 2010, Zhang Xiaolong discovered while studying Kik that this new mobile instant messaging software may pose a fatal threat to QQ. He wrote an email to Ma Huateng overnight, suggesting Tencent to do this business.

Ma Huateng quickly responded to the email to express his approval of the suggestion. Zhang Xiaolong recalled. "The whole process started for an hour or two, and suddenly I got into a wrong nerve, wrote this email, and it started."
This email became the starting point for WeChat.

Zhang Xiaolong led a dozen generals to squeeze in a narrow office area and began a crazy life as a "coders".
At that time, three teams were working on WeChat products, and the other two were the mobile QQ team and the Qxin team. Zhang Xiaolong's team was at a disadvantage in terms of connections, resources and experience.
Zhang Xiaolong, who was working hard, had no worries and would never compromise easily. This paranoia eventually helped WeChat to pass the crisis.
On January 21, 2011, WeChat 1.0 was launched.
A little man stood alone outside the huge blue planet, looking at his distant home. Zhang Xiaolong hopes to use this painting to convey the purpose of WeChat: people are lonely and need communication.

Now WeChat has become one of the most popular social platforms in China and is also a major product under Tencent.
