"Condom" is also fake? Taobao helps police remove fake adult supplies den

A box of fake "Dures" costs only a few yuan

More than a year ago, Chen, who was over 30 years old, bought counterfeit adult products from a friend and started selling them online. These counterfeit condoms and lubricants only cost a few yuan. Chen sold it on many e-commerce platforms at genuine prices, seeking huge profits.

Before the Chinese Valentine's Day this year, Taobao Big Data discovered Chen's fake sales behavior and locked in his area. Subsequently, the Taizhou City police in Zhejiang Province, who obtained clues from Taobao, quickly found Chen's counterfeit den in a rental house in Yuanqiao Town, Huangyan District, Taizhou City, and seized hundreds of boxes of counterfeit condoms and lubricants such as brands such as "Dures", "Jie Shibang", "Six Sense", "Okamoto", "Yaqin" and other brands of condoms and lubricants worth nearly 100,000 yuan.

Chen has now been controlled by the police for suspected selling of counterfeit registered trademark adult products. The case is still under further investigation.

Zhang Hongjun, a waiter from Taobao's anti-counterfeiting special forces team, introduced that relying on big data technology, since the first half of this year alone, Taobao has exported dozens of clues about counterfeit "adult supplies" cases to six provinces including Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan, Guangdong, and Anhui, and assisted in the investigation and handling of counterfeit adult supplies with a case value of over 250,000 yuan.

Most of the "high-end" counterfeit adult products come from Guangdong

"Some counterfeit condoms, sex toys, and lubricants that are under the guise of big brands and are sold at a higher price are mostly from Guangdong. And counterfeit adult products with lower value are mostly from Anhui and other regions," Zhang Hongjun introduced.

In addition, as e-commerce platforms continue to increase their efforts to control counterfeit goods, more and more counterfeit criminals are breaking away from normal supervision and are guiding consumers to enter some domestic social platforms to conduct transactions. "Generally speaking, it is difficult to retain evidence of selling counterfeit goods on social platforms, which also creates a great problem for the police to collect evidence, and criminals are taking advantage of this." Zhang Hongjun said.

Taobao big data shows that the categories of counterfeit adult products are also changing from condoms, sex toys, oral health products to functional ointments and sprays applied outside. Many external medicines under the banner of "sexual health care" have the risk of harming the human body as much as oral health care products.

Experts suggest that compared with oral sexual health products, there is currently no unified national standard for external and applied sexual health products, which will bring new problems to e-commerce platforms for managing such products and give criminals an opportunity to take advantage of. The relevant departments should improve the formulation of standards in this regard as soon as possible.
