On February 6, Tmall International and CBNData released the "2017 Import Consumption Trend Report" in Beijing. The report shows that as of the end of 2017, a total of 16,400 overseas brands in nearly 4,000 imported categories in 68 countries and regions around the world have been introduced, of which more than 80% of the brands have entered the Chinese market for the first time, and have continued to enrich the import consumption supply of Chinese people in the past year.
At the same time, based on Alibaba data, imported consumption data provided by three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017, Tmall International's female consumers have maintained about 70%. People born in the 1990s and 1995s are replacing the 1980s and 1980s and becoming the main force of import consumption. Import consumption has begun to spread rapidly from first-tier provinces such as Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and the Pearl River Delta to the central and western regions.

According to Liu Peng, general manager of Tmall International, during Double 11 in 2017, 40% of domestic consumers purchased international brands, and the overall transaction amount of international brands increased by 51% year-on-year. Among them, three Aston Martin boats sold tens of millions have opened up the unlimited imagination of Chinese people's import consumption upgrade. The simultaneous pursuit of quality consumption in Chinese people has ushered in explosions again and again in 2017. Global retail giants such as Macy's, Costco, Metro, and Procter & Gamble opened double stores on Tmall. China is becoming a test field for global brands to achieve large-scale globalization new retail innovation.
According to the latest report of iResearch in the fourth quarter of 2017, more than 75% of the cross-border imported retail e-commerce market is a cross-border B2C comprehensive platform, of which Tmall International continues to rank first with a market share of 27.6%.
Data shows that since its official launch in February 2014, Tmall International has cooperated with eight core cross-border pilot cities including Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. At the same time, in major importing countries, Cainiao has jointly deployed overseas warehouses with the direct mail model as a supplement. As of now, it has served nearly 60 million domestic middle-class users.
At the same time, Tmall International has also reached strategic cooperation with popular import countries and regions for Chinese outbound travel to support small and medium-sized enterprises. Since 2015, it has successively launched 17 official national and regional pavilions including South Korea, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. In early February, Tmall International announced the establishment of a procurement center in the UK. In the next three years, thousands of British brands will be introduced into the Chinese market, and further promote plans to support European small and medium-sized enterprises.
In 2017, Tmall International also focused on using technology to continuously promote the implementation of global origin traceability innovation. The plan uses blockchain technology and big data tracking to gradually realize the full link of imported goods, collecting information such as production, transportation, customs clearance, inspection, and third-party inspection, and giving each cross-border imported goods a "identity card".
At the end of 2017, the Ministry of Commerce officially announced that the State Council would postpone the transition period policy for cross-border e-commerce retail import supervision to the end of 2018, and continue to be favorable news for the temporary supervision of cross-border e-commerce retail imported goods according to personal items.
