  The change of the rules was announced on September 29, 2017 and officially took effect on October 10, 2017.

  The key points of this rule change are as follows:

  1. Article 62: The “description does not match” rule is renamed to “inappropriate description”;

  2. Adjust the interpretation and punishment of Article 62 improper description in the main text of the Taobao Rules;

  Taobao did not announce the details of the adjustment of the "Taobao Rules" describing the improper rules on September 29, and this adjustment officially took effect on October 10. The adjustment of this rule also indirectly shows that Taobao has once again increased its control over low-priced products.

  There are two main changes in this rule adjustment. One is to rename the "inconsistent description" rule to "improper description", and the interpretation and punishment of improper description are adjusted. In the adjusted rules, improper description refers to the act of hindering the buyer's rights and interests in the goods or services received by the buyer, or the goods or services found by Taobao's official inspection or screening, or the seller's failure to disclose information such as product defects, etc.

  Taobao takes different penalties into four situations for sellers to describe improperly. It is worth noting that, previously, the penalty for describing misconduct was mainly aimed at its corresponding products, and after the rules were adjusted, the target target had become a store. After the adjustment, if the merchant has any inappropriate description, the first product in the store will be removed from the shelves, and the second product will start to deduct points, and a maximum of 48 points will be deducted.

  In addition, in this rule adjustment, Taobao has added a new punishment measure: Taobao will adopt temporary market control measures such as store supervision, store blocking and product search reduction in the entire store, supervision of the entire store or individual product, extension of the transaction account period, restricting the release of products of specific attributes, restricting the number of products released in the product, restricting the number of products released in a category, restricting the release of specific categories, restricting the use of specific functions of product release, restricting the use of specific management tools, restricting the use of specific management tools.

  (1) If the seller describes improperly, no points will be deducted for the first time the product is removed from the shelves, 3 points will be deducted for the second time the product is removed from the shelves, 6 points will be deducted for the third time the product is deleted for the general violation, 12 points will be deducted for the general violation of the product is deleted for the fourth or above.

  (2) If the seller describes improper circumstances, 3 points will be deducted for the first time of removal of the product, 6 points will be deducted for the second time of removal of the product, 12 points will be deducted for the third time of removal of the product, 12 points will be deducted for the third time of removal of the product, 14 points will be deducted for the fourth time of removal of the product, 12 points will be deducted for each time of serious violation of the product.

  (3) If the seller describes the improper circumstances seriously, the product will be deleted. 12 points will be deducted for the first general violation, and 12 points will be deducted for each second or above serious violation;

  (4) If the seller describes the improper circumstances, it is deemed to be a serious violation and 48 points will be deducted each time;

  If the same seller describes the same situation improperly, points will be deducted only once every three days.
