Notice on Tmall's 2017 Annual Qualification Rules

Dear merchants:

　　In order to further improve the merchant’s entry efficiency and improve customer experience, Tmall plans to upgrade the 2017 entry qualification details.

　　The adjustment of this rule will be announced on August 29, 2017 and will take effect on September 5, 2017.

　　Before the change

　　If you apply for the following categories, you must submit the following information. If there are special qualification requirements, the staff or system prompts shall prevail.

　　Note:

　　1. Designated brand entry: refers to the priority recruitment of brands in the Tmall Hot Recruitment brand pool. Tmall Hot Recruitment brand: click here to view.

2. Self-recommended brand entry: refers to Tmall recruiting brands that meet the requirements 　　through the "self-recommended brand" entry channel .

　　3. Unlimited brand entry: It means that you can directly submit a brand entry application.

　　4. Tmall does not currently accept brands that have not registered trademarks with the China Trademark Administration (except for specialty stores for food, maternal and infant, health products and medicine, parallel imported cars, books, audio and video, and home daily use storage and organization, home/personal cleaning tools, kitchen/cooking utensils, and catering utensils).

　　5. The goods or services operated by the store must comply with the quality requirements of the law, the national and standard, and at the same time meet the quality standards of the platform's product and the release specification requirements. For details, please refer to the relevant "Tmall Sampling Conduct Code" and "Tmall Industry Standards".

　　6. First-level authorization based on the trademark right holder refers to the trademark right holder who directly authorizes the store opening company to sell its branded products.

　　Complete authorization within the second level with the trademark owner as the source means that the trademark owner authorizes others to sell their branded goods, and others then authorizes the store opening company to sell the branded goods. By analogy, complete authorization within Level 2/3/4 based on the trademark right holder.

　　For example: A is the trademark owner, C is the store opening company, and the authorization provided by C is ABC, and this authorization level is 2.

　　The authorization of the trademark owner's branch, wholly-owned subsidiary, the only domestic general agent (only applicable to foreign trademark owners), etc. can be regarded as the authorization of the trademark owner.

　　After the change

For details, please refer to the relevant "Platform Quality Standards", "Tmall Sampling Conduct Code", "Tmall Industry Standards" and "Tmall Rules".

　　6. Products operated in the store (each brand) must provide at least one test report issued by a third-party authoritative organization. For details of the products that require the test report and the testing project requirements of each item, please refer to the "Tmall Sampling Inspection Specifications".

　　Special Requirements:

　　Each category of sterling silver jewelry provides at least one relevant test report issued by the provincial quality supervision bureau (for example: bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc.); natural crystals, tourmalines, garnets, zircons, agate, lapis lazuli, tridacna, etc., gold, diamonds, natural jade, jade, pearls, amber, platinum, corals, other gems/semi-precious stones or precious metals, etc. If the business involves the above products, each material category needs to provide at least one relevant test report issued by the provincial quality supervision bureau;

　　The adult products/sex toys category must provide at least 5 test reports issued by authoritative third-party organizations;

　　7. First-level authorization based on the trademark right holder refers to the trademark right holder who directly authorizes the store opening company to sell its branded products.
