Many "shopping players" have recently discovered that the express delivery has been damaged less. Is it the courier who has become gentle? In fact, it is very likely that the capable and good-tempered "Little Orange Man" took action.
"Little Orange Man" is a fully automatic sorting robot of Shentong Express, which has been in trouble at home and abroad recently. These orange robots can travel densely and orderly on the ground, transporting packages to designated locations, and can automatically run to charge like sweeping robots. A netizen commented: "It feels like elopement with luggage at home with vacuum cleaners."

What’s important is that the “Little Orange People” can process nearly 20,000 parcels per hour, and sorting 200,000 parcels a day is no problem, saving half of the labor for express delivery companies.
According to a reporter from the First Financial Daily, "Xiaochengren" was developed by Shentong Express and Zhejiang Libiao Robot Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Libiao"). Currently, it has been launched in Shentong Express in Yiwu, Tianjin and Linyi.
Paul Dawson, global product development director of Dyson Environmental Electrical Team, said in an exclusive interview with the First Financial Daily reporter: "China is already ahead of the world in the application of robots. We are very interested in how robots can collaborate with workers in the future."
The sorting magic of "Little Orange Man"
Sending and receiving express delivery has become a part of many people's lives. According to statistics from the State Post Bureau, in 2016, my country's express delivery business volume reached 31.35 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 51.7%; business revenue reached 400.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 44.6%.
During the concentrated online shopping periods such as "Double Eleven", a large number of express delivery is piled up and difficult to sort. Insufficient staff and rising labor costs are all problems that plague express delivery companies.

"These robots have saved about 30 manpower for the 1,300 square meters of logistics modules, and the sorting efficiency and accuracy rate are higher, reducing the risk of damage to express delivery. We are also preparing to cooperate with Libiao to build another module to use these robots to sort small express parcels." Chen Yuhao, IT director of Shentong Express Yiwu Distribution Center, once told the media.
"Little Orange Man" mainly targets small packages with a length of not exceeding 60 cm, a width of not exceeding 50 cm, and a weight of less than 5 kg. It integrates the functions of scanning codes, weighing and sorting, which can realize the identification of express order information and deliver them on the optimal route. Each time the code scan time is within 1 second, the running speed can reach 3 meters/second, and the amazing efficiency of sorting 18,000 pieces per hour can be achieved.
Optimistic about the development potential of artificial intelligence, Dasheng told Caixin that Dyson has announced that it will invest 2.5 billion pounds (about 22.1 billion yuan) to develop artificial intelligence and robotics technology.

Regarding the technology of "Little Orange Man", Dasheng believes that the persistence of the battery plays a key role. JD CEO Liu Qiangdong also said half a year ago that powerful battery technology can not only be used in warehousing robots, but also supports drone delivery.
Warehousing robots can be divided into three types: sorting robots, handling robots, and distribution robots. Libiao launched this sorting robot system in June last year and was tested in many places, and will be fully put into use this year.
Many logistics startups in China have already set their sights on the big cake of the warehousing robot market. In addition to Libiao, it includes Beijing Jizhijia Technology Co., Ltd. (number of public patents: 2), Shanghai Kuaicang Intelligent Technology (number of public patents: 6), Wuxi Puzhilianke High-tech Co., Ltd. (number of public patents: 144), and even Xinsong Robot, the leader of the domestic robot industry, has participated in the research and development of warehousing robots; Alibaba's Cainiao Logistics has established an "ET Logistics Laboratory".
